Why vote for Nikki?

I hold lived experience that deserves more representation on Kitchener city council:

  • I hold a Master’s degree in Social Justice and Community Engagement from Wilfrid Laurier University.

  • I had my political start volunteering extensively for former Green MP and Green leadership candidate Mike Morrice in 2019 and 2021, and later volunteered in his constituency office.

  • I also have an earlier PhD in mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and worked for several years in math education, challenging systemic barriers against mathematics achievement. This gives me experience thinking about complex ideas and distilling them into forms the general public can understand.

  • I am a proud parent to a 3-year-old, and in my early 30s, much younger than everyone on the outgoing council.

  • I have spent much of the last 11 years navigating Waterloo Region by cycling and public transit, and do not own a car.

  • I have spent time as both a renter and a property owner since moving to Kitchener 9 years ago, and am currently a renter.

  • I belong to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Did you know that no openly queer person has ever been elected to any level of government in Waterloo Region? It’s time to change that.

Local Issues

I have knocked on approximately 8,000 doors across Ward 7 so far, on the way to my goal of all 10,500 doors in Ward 7 by the October 26th election. Here is what I’ve learned from our conversations:

My other priorities
